Efficacy Observation of Huoxue Zhitong Decoction Combined with Lumbar Poultice in the Treatment of Acute Stage of Lumbar Disc Herniation(Syndrome of Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis)
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of Huoxue Zhitong Decoction combined with Huoxue Ton-gluo Lumbar Poultice in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation in the acute stage(syndrome of qi stagnation and blood stasis). Methods:A total of 80 patients with lumbar disc herniation in the acute staeg(syndrome of qi stag-nation and blood stasis)were selected and divided into two groups with 40 cases in each group. On the basis of conventional treatment, the control group was given Huoxue Tongluo Lumbar Poultice, and the observation group was given Huoxue Zhitong Decoction combined with Huoxue Huoxue Tongluo Lumbar Poultice. Both groups were treated continuously for 10 days. The visual analogue score(VAS),Oswestry dysfunction(ODI)index,Japanese Or-thopaedic Association score(JOA),TCM syndrome score, clinical efficacy and adverse reactions were compared be-fore and after treatment. Results:After treatment, the scores of VAS,ODI and TCM syndrome(low back pain, numbness of lower limbs, stiffness of lumbar muscles, limited activity, fixed pain, and refusal to press on the pain-ful area)in the two groups decreased compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the observation group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05);the JOA scores in the two groups increased compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The total effective rate of the observation group(95.00%)was higher than that of the control group(82.50%)(P<0.05).No adverse reactions were reported during the treatment period in either group. Conclusion:Huoxue Zhi-tong Decoction combined with Huoxue Huoxue Tongluo Lumbar Poultice can effectively alleviate the clinical symp-toms of patients with lumbar disc herniation in the acute stage(syndrome of qi stagnation and blood stasis),im-prove lumbar dysfunction, and improve the quality of life of patients.
