Clinical Observation of Fire Dragon Cupping Comprehensive Moxibustion in the Treatment of Acute Peripheral Facial Paralysis of Wind and Cold Attacking Meridians Type
Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of fire dragon cupping comprehensive moxibustion in the treatment of acute peripheral facial paralysis(PFP)of wind and cold attacking meridians type and its impact on fa-cial neuroelectrophysiology and facial blood flow changes. Methods:A total of 104 patients were randomly divid-ed into a control group and an observation group, with 52 patients in each group. The control group received com-prehensive western medicine treatment measures;on the basis of the control group, the observation group was treat-ed with fire dragon cupping comprehensive moxibustion for 7 days. The neuroelectrophysiological examinations,fa-cial hemodynamic tests, physician reported outcome indicators, patient reported outcomes and safety evaluation were recorded. Results:The abnormal rates of action potential M-waves and R1 in the frontal muscle, orbicularis oculi muscle, and orbicularis oris muscle in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05);the amplitude of the M wave of the action potential in the frontal muscle, orbicularis oculi muscle, and orbicu-laris oris muscle of PFP patients in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the laten-cy was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05);the Vs and Vd of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, while the RI was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05);the H-B scale score and Sunnybrook facial nerve score of PFP patients in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05);the score of wind and cold attack on meridians in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05);the WHOQOL-BREF,FDIP,and FDIS scores of PFP patients in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05);the recovery rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The comprehensive moxibustion method of fire dragon cupping can improve facial neuroelectrophysiology and facial blood flow in PFP patients with wind and cold attacking me-ridians,thereby promoting the recovery of nerve function. The clinical efficacy is good and the application is safe.
