Clinical Observation on Huolong Cupping in Treating Frozen Shoulder
Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Huolong cupping therapy on the treatment of frozen shoulder(syndrome of cold dampness obstruction). Methods:A total of 106 patients were divided into an experi-mental group(n=53)and a control group(n=53)using a random number table method. The control group was treated with acupuncture and moxibustion and conventional nursing;the experimental group was treated with Huolong cupping on the basis of the control group. All patients were treated 3 times a week, with 2 weeks as a course of treatment. The treatment lasted for 2 consecutive courses, totaling 12 times. The pain visual analogue score(VAS),shoulder joint function Constant-Murley Score(CMS),shoulder joint range of motion score(Melle),traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score,SF-36 quality of life score, and adverse reactions during treat-ment for both groups before and 2 and 4 weeks after treatment were recorded. Results:At 2 and 4 weeks after treatment, the VAS score,Melle score, and TCM symptom score of the experimental group and control group de-creased compared with before treatment(P<0.05).The decrease in the experimental group was more significant than that of the control group, and the decrease was more significant at 4 weeks of intervention than at 2 weeks of intervention(all P<0.05).At 2 and 4 weeks after treatment, the CMS score and SF-36 quality of life score of the experimental and control groups increased compared with before treatment(P<0.05),and the CMS score de-creased more significantly at 4 weeks of intervention compared with 2 weeks of intervention(P<0.05).The total clinical effective rate of the experimental group was 90.56%,which was higher than 73.58%of the control group(P<0.05).There were no adverse reactions in the experimental group and control group. Conclusion:Huolong cupping therapy can effectively alleviate pain in patients with frozen shoulder(syndrome of cold dampness obstruc-tion)and is beneficial for the recovery of shoulder joint function. The short-term therapeutic effect is satisfactory.
