Analysis of Yu Fengxian's Epidemic Treatment Experience from Collected Prescriptions and Experience in Medicine
By examining medical case records of epidemic diseases in Collected Prescriptions and Experience in Medicine by Yu Fengxian,a renowned physician in the treatment of epidemics in modern times,this study explores his experience,ideas,and unique features in treating such diseases.Yu's work covers 20 types of epidemics and includes 77 therapeutic formulas,15 of which are original creations marked with the prefix"Newly Modified".Yu's approach to treating epidemics integrated the theories of cold and warm diseases,employed multiple therapeutic methods simultaneously,favored the use of Spirodela polyrhiza,and emphasized the use of fresh herbs.He also ad-opted external treatments for epidemics and combined acupuncture with medication,achieving tangible therapeutic effects with many successful cases.In treating epidemics,Yu selected medicines with consideration for the impov-erished,truthfully documented medical cases,and demonstrated high ethical standards and professional conduct.His experiences in treating epidemics hold enlightening and referential significance for clinical practice in tradi-tional Chinese medicine's management of epidemic diseases.
