Clinical Observation of Plum Blossom Needle Combined with WIRA Physical Therapy and Intramuscular Injection of Cobamamide on Acute Herpes Zoster
Objective:To explore the effects of plum blossom needle combined with WIRA physical therapy and intramuscular injection of cobamamide on pain,immune response,and serum neurotensin(NT)level in pa-tients with acute herpes zoster(HZ).Methods:A total of 140 patients with acute phase HZ were randomly divid-ed into a needle group and a control medicine group according to random number table method.The control group was treated with WIRA physical therapy and intramuscular injection of cobamamide,while the needle group was treated with plum blossom needle therapy.The efficacy,clinical symptom improvement time,number of immune cells,serum NT level,Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)scores,and postherpetic neuralgia(PHN)were compared be-tween the two groups.Results:The total clinical effective rate of the needle group was 92.86％,which was higher than that of the western medicine group(80.00％)(P＜0.05);the time for stopping blisters,scab formation time,and pain relief time in the needle group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05);after treatment,the percentage of CD4+cells and CD4+/CD8+in both groups increased,and the needle group were higher than the control group;the percentage of CD8+cells in both groups decreased,and the needle group was lower than the con-trol group(P＜0.05);at 1 week,4 weeks,and 8 weeks after treatment,the serum NT level in both groups in-creased,and at the same time point,the needle group was higher than the control group(P＜0.05);at after 1 week,4 weeks,and 8 weeks after treatment,the VAS scores of both groups decreased,and at the same time point,the needle group was lower than the control group(P＜0.05);the incidence of PHN in the needle group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion:The combination of plum blossom needle with WIRA physi-cal therapy and intramuscular injection of cobamamide in treating acute HZ can effectively alleviate pain,improve immunity,increase serum NT level,and obviously improve clinical symptoms.
