Clinical Characteristics and Distribution of Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Types of Hornet Sting in Shenzhen Area
Objective:To investigate the clinical data of hornet sting victims in the Shenzhen area,analyze their clinical characteristics and distribution of TCM syndrome types,providing clinical reference for the integrated treat-ment of hornet stings in TCM and western medicine.Methods:Retrospective analysis was conducted on the clini-cal data of patients with hornet stings who visited the Emergency Department of Shenzhen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Guangdong Province from 2021 to 2023,summarizing their clinical characteristics and distri-bution of TCM syndrome types.Results:1)Among 1 109 emergency cases of hornet stings,females(51.58%)slightly outnumbered males.The incidence rates of stings in different genders varied across age groups,with male patients predominantly affected during childhood and adolescence,while female patients were more evenly distrib-uted across all age groups.2)83.41%of the emergency cases of hornet stings occurred in the limbs,head,and face,with local swelling(904 cases),pain(867 cases),and skin redness(544 cases)being the most common symp-toms.3)The distribution of TCM syndrome types among emergency cases of hornet stings,from highest to lowest,were Fire-Toxin syndrome(65.64%),Wind-Fire-Toxin syndrome(17.94%),Wind-Toxin syndrome(6.49%),Stag-nation-Toxin syndrome(9.11%),and asymptomatic cases(0.81%).4)Among 21 hospitalized cases of hornet stings,the distribution of TCM syndrome types was Wind-Fire-Toxin syndrome(80.95%),Fire-Toxin syndrome(14.29%),Wind-Toxin syndrome(4.76%),and no cases of Stagnation-Toxin syndrome.Conclusion:The main TCM syndrome among emergency patients with hornet stings in the Shenzhen area is Fire-Toxin syndrome,with clinical symptoms mainly manifested as redness,swelling,and pain.Hospitalized patients primarily present with Wind-Fire-Toxin syndrome,commonly showing symptoms of redness,swelling,pain,and dizziness.The distribu-tion of TCM syndrome types is correlated with age and gender,and different TCM syndromes exhibit distinct distri-bution patterns regarding age and gender.
