Effect of Breathing and Swallowing Coordination Training Combined with Regulating Mind and Activating Orifices Acupuncture on Neurological Function and Neurotrophic Factors in Patients with Swallowing Disorders after Acute Ischemic Stroke
Objective:To explore the clinical efficacy of regulating mind and activating orifices acupuncture in the treatment of swallowing disorders after acute ischemic stroke(AIS),as well as its impact on neural function, swallowing function and neurotrophic factors. Methods:A total of 90 patients admitted to Liaocheng Second Hos-pital Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University were randomly divided into the control group(45 cases)and observation group(45 cases),respectively. The control group received routine internal medicine and rehabilitation treatment measures while the observation group was given regulating mind and activating orifices acupuncture on the basis of the control group. The course of treatment was 1 time/day,6 times/week and continued for 2 weeks.Wada Drinking Water Test(WST)was conducted before and after treatment, and the Standard Swallowing Func-tion Assessment Scale(SSA),Swallowing Quality of Life Scale(SWAL-QOL),Functional Oral Eating Scale(FOIS),and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)scores were recorded;serum insulin like growth factor(IGF)-1,brain derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF),and nerve growth factor(NGF)before and after treatment were determined;the occurrence of pneumonia, electrolyte disorders, dehydration, and aspiration were recorded.Re-sults:WST findings were less sever in the observation group when compared with the control group(P<0.05);SWAL-QOL and FOIS scores were higher in the observation group and SSA and NIHSS scores were lower in the observation group when compared with the control group(P<0.05);the serum IGF-1,BDNF and NGF of the obser-vation group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05);compared with the control group, the total effi-ciency in the observation group was 97.78%,which was significantly higher than 77.78%of the control group(P<0.05);the complication rate of the observation group was lower than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Regulating mind and activating orifices acupuncture can significantly improve the swallowing function, alleviate neurological deficits, improve life quality, and reduce the incidence of complications in the treatment of swallowing disorders after AIS.
