Clinical Efficacy Observation of Kanggan Mixture in Treating Patients with Acute High Fever Phase of Influenza(Syndrome of Heat-toxin Attacking Lung)
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of Kanggan Mixture in treating patients with influenza during the acute high fever phase(syndrome of heat-toxin attacking lung). Methods:A total of 204 patients were divided into an observation group and a control group of 102 cases each using the random number table method. The control group received oseltamivir treatment, while the observation group received a combination of oseltamivir and Kanggan Mixture. The recovery rates of main influenza symptoms, improvement of body temperature, viral nu-cleic acid negative conversion rate, and laboratory indicators were compared between the two groups. Results:The recovery rate of main influenza symptoms in the observation group on days 5 to 7 was higher than that in the con-trol group(P<0.05).The time for recovery of five individual influenza symptoms including fatigue, cough, thirst, headache, and sore throat was shorter in the observation group compared with the control group(P<0.01).The me-dian time to defervescence in the observation group was 7 hours shorter than in the control group, with a statistical-ly significant difference(P<0.05).The proportion of patients who had a fever reduction at 24 and 36 hours was significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the increase in lymphocyte percentage(LY%)in the observation group was more significant than in the control group(P<0.05);after treatment, the decrease in C-reactive protein(CRP)and interleukin-6(IL-6)levels in the observation group was more significant than in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the level of alanine aminotransferase(ALT)elevation in the observation group was lower than in the control group(P<0.05);after treatment, the im-provement in creatine kinase(CK)and CK-MB in the observation group was significantly better than in the con-trol group(P<0.05).During the course of treatment,at the 3 day and 5 day time points, the viral nucleic acid neg-ative conversion rate was significantly better in the observation group compared to the control group(P<0.05),in-dicating a stronger antiviral effect of Kanggan Mixture against influenza virus. Conclusion:The combination thera-py with Kanggan Mixture in treating patients with influenza during the acute high fever phase(syndrome of heat-toxin attacking lung)demonstrates significant efficacy, which is superior to the use of oseltamivir alone. The com-bined use can shorten the duration of influenza and fever, adjust serum inflammatory markers, improve myocardial enzymes, reduce the risk of viral myocarditis, and has good safety.
