Clinical Observation of Baikuling Mixture in Treating Acute Eczema
Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of Baikuling mixture in the treatment of acute eczema(syndrome of dampness-heat infiltration). Methods:Using the random number table method,127 pa-tients were divided into three groups:the western medicine group(40 cases),the TCM group(44 cases),and the combined group(43 cases). The western medicine group was treated with levocetirizine tablets and topical borax;the TCM group was treated with Baikuling mixture;the combined group received both western and TCM.The changes in itching severity, lesion area,Eczema Area and Severity Index(EASI)scores, and TCM syndrome scores were observed before treatment, after 2 weeks of treatment, and during follow-up.Adverse reactions during treat-ment were also recorded. Results:After 2 weeks of treatment, the itching severity scores, lesion area scores, and TCM syndrome scores of the western medicine group, the TCM group, and the combined group all significantly de-creased compared with before treatment(P<0.05).During follow-up,the combined group's scores were better than those of the TCM group and the western medicine group(P<0.05).Additionally,the recurrence rate in the western medicine group was 40.63%,which was higher than that of the other two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion:Baikuling mixture can significantly alleviate clinical symptoms in patients with acute eczema(syndrome of damp-ness-heat infiltration),has a lower recurrence rate compared with monotherapy with western medicine, and has no adverse reactions.
