Discussion on the Pathogenesis and Treatment of Refractory Cancer Pain based on Collateral Disease Theory
Collateral disease theory holds that persistent illness and chronic pain invading the collaterals,provid-ing insights for understanding refractory cancer pain from the collateral disease.This article believes that refracto-ry cancer pain belongs to collateral disease,and its pathogenesis in traditional Chinese medicine is attributed to the deficiency and damage of collateral qi,as well as the blockage of collateral channels and vessels.Therefore,in treatment,it is recommended to unblock the channels and vessels with pungent and moistening herbs,employ me-dicinal insects to dredge the channels,and reinforce the collateral channels with tonic herbs.Attention should be paid to both tonifying and unblocking to promote the smooth flow of qi and blood and the comfort of collateral channels and vessels,providing a certain reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment of refractory cancer pain.
