Clinical Observation of Symmetrical Acupoint Retention Needle Technique for the Treatment of Acute Lumbar Sprain
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of the symmetrical acupoint retention needle technique in the treatment of acute lumbar sprain.Methods:90 patients with acute lumbar sprain were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, each with 45 cases. The observation group was treated with the symmetri-cal acupoint retention needle technique targeting painful points in the waist, while the control group received con-ventional electroacupuncture treatment. Both groups underwent continuous treatment for 3 days and were followed for 1 month after the end of treatment.Changes in Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)scores for pain, range of motion(ROM)scores for lumbar joints, and Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)scores for modified lower back pain were observed and recorded at three time points:before treatment, after treatment, and during follow-up.Results:After 3 days of treatment and 1 month of follow-up,the VAS scores,ROM scores, and JOA scores were significant-ly improved compared to before treatment(P<0.05)in both groups. When comparing the two groups, the improve-ments in the observation group were more significant than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The symmetrical acupoint retention needle technique for treating acute lumbar sprain shows immediate and obvious effi-cacy with stable long-term prognosis. It is superior to conventional electroacupuncture treatment in terms of reduc-ing pain, improving lumbar mobility, and increasing the effectiveness rate.
