Treating Oculomotor Nerve Paralysis from a Perspective of"Treating Flaccidity Syn-drome with Sole Emphasis on Yangming"
Oculomotor nerve paralysis is a common cause of ptosis and diplopia,and its etiological diagnosis remains a challenging issue in medicine due to its complexity.This condition falls within the domain of"flaccidity syndrome"in Traditional Chinese Medicine.Based on an understanding of the principle in the Huangdi Neijing that"treating flaccidity syndrome with sole emphasis on Yangming",this article discusses oculomotor nerve paralysis from a flaccidity syndrome perspective.It elucidates the relationship between oculomotor nerve paralysis and flaccidity syndrome in terms of etiology,pathogenesis,and treatment.Emphasis is placed on the"sole emphasis on Yangming",incorporating pattern differentiation into the clinical treatment.Both herbal medicine and acupuncture are discussed as clinical applications,providing new insights for the clinical management of oculomotor nerve paralysis.
