A New Interpretation of the Pharmacological"Fa Xiang"of Eye-benefiting Chinese Medicines
The application of"Fa Xiang"thinking in medication serves as the cornerstone of pharmacological studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),significantly impacting the development of TCM.This paper employs"Fa Xiang"thinking to analyze the characteristics of eye-benefiting Chinese medicine based on their forms,seasonal attributes,ascending or descending properties,color,meridian tropism,and inherent characteristics.Through the method of analogical reasoning,it investigates the"Fa Xiang"mechanisms of 29 eye-benefiting Chinese medicines documented in the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China,such as Fructus Xanthii,which has a similar shape to the eyeball and is shiny and black;Margarita,which has a colorful and sparkling luster similar to the luster of the eyes;Chrysanthemum,which acquires the autumn metal energy and is used for clearing the eyes by metal overcoming wood.The objective is to further enrich the theoretical framework of ophthalmological medication in TCM,stimulate innovative approaches to clinical ophthalmic treatment,encourage a return to the original thinking of TCM,and provide better guidance for clinical medication.
