Research Progress on Macular Hemorrhage of High Myopiain in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine
High myopia-related fundus lesions can result in irreversible visual impairment, with a high risk of blindness.Among these, macular hemorrhage in high myopia significantly im-pacts patients'vision due to its unique location and is commonly encountered in clinical practice. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the etiology, pathogenesis, imaging manifestations, and treatments in both Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)and Western Medicine(WM)for macular hemorrhage in high myopia by compiling and analyzing domestic and foreign literature. It is observed that, the etiology is primarily related to liver, spleen, and kidney in TCM,while WM at-tributes the pathogenesis to the formation of choroidal neovascularization in the macular region and elongation of the axial length of the eye.Main treatment methods include WM therapy,surgi-cal interventions,as well as TCM prescriptions and patent medicines. However, there is currently a lack of large-sample,multicenter clinical studies and personalized treatment plans tailored to dif-ferent etiologies and pathogenic mechanisms. This study provides valuable insights for the preven-tion and treatment of macular hemorrhage in highly myopic individuals.
