Age-related cataract is the most common type of acquired cataract, characterized by progressive deterioration of vision due to age-related lens changes.Surgery is the primary treat-ment modality for this condition. However, patients often experience postoperative ocular discom-fort symptoms such as dryness and foreign body sensation, which are related to dry eye and can af-fect visual quality. This paper reviews recent literature on the pathogenesis of postoperative dry eye in age-related cataract and summarizes the research progress on Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)treatment. It is found that TCM can effectively control the progression of the disease, and various TCM treatment methods can be combined to exert synergistic advantages, alleviating post-operative ocular discomfort symptoms in patients. This paper can provide reference for clinical physicians in treating postoperative dry eye in age-related cataract with TCM.
