Clinical Efficacy Observation of Qinggan Yiyin Mingmu Formula in Treating Mild to Moderate Lipid Abnormality Type Dry Eye Syndrome
OBJECTIVE To observe the clinical efficacy of Qinggan Yiyin Mingmu Formula in treating mild to moderate lipid abnormality type dry eye syndrome.METHODS From May 2023 to September 2023,55 patients(110 eyes)with mild to moderate lipid abnormality type dry eye syndrome diagnosed and treated at Dongzhimen Hospital,Beijing University of Chinese Medicine were included.These patients were classified as having liver-kidney Yin deficiency syndrome and randomly divided into an experimental group(28 cases,56 eyes,EG)and a control group(27 cases,54 eyes,CG).The control group received treatment with 0.1%sodium hyaluronate eye drops combined with eyelid gland massage,while the experimental group received additional treatment with Qinggan Yiyin Mingmu Formula fumigation and herbal tea.The subjects'tear film break-up time(BUT),tear river height,ocular surface disease index(OSDI)scores,and Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome scores were evaluated before and after treatment.RESULTS There were no significant differences in BUT,tear river height,OSDI scores and TCM syndrome scores between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).(1)BUT:After treatment,BUT was significantly prolonged in both groups compared to before treatment(tEG=6.939,P=0.000;tCG=3.363,P=0.001).The experimental group had a longer BUT than the control group after treatment(t=2.251,P=0.026).(2)Tear river height:Tear river height increased significantly after treatment in the experimental group(t=3.680,P=0.000),while there was no significant difference in the control group(P>0.05).The experimental group had a higher tear river height than the control group after treatment(t=2.090,P=0.039).(3)OSDI scores:After treatment,OSDI scores decreased significantly in both groups compared to before treatment(tEG=17.365,tCG=12.514,both P=0.000),The experimental group had lower OSDI scores than those in the control group after treatment(t=6.777,P=0.000).(4)TCM syndrome scores:After treatment,the TCM syndrome scores decreased significantly in both groups compared to before treatment(tEG=9.770,tCG=7.174,both P=0.000).The experimental group had lower TCM syndrome scores than those in the control group after treatment(t=4.769,P=0.000).(5)Clinical efficacy:The effective rate was 92.86%in the experimental group,74.07%in the control group.The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(χ2=18.532,P=0.000).CONCLUSIONS Qinggan Yiyin Mingmu Formula helps improve tear film stability,increase tear river height,and alleviate patient discomfort symptoms.
