Treating Refractory RVO-ME from the Perspective of Yin Deficiency and Damp-heat
Retinal vein occlusion(RVO)is a common and high blindness retinal vascular disease, with its major complication affecting visual acuity being macular edema(RVO-ME).Traditional Chinese Medicine attributes blood stasis as a key pathogenic factor in RVO-ME.However,treatments solely focused on"dispelling blood stasis"often yield unsatisfactory results. This paper elucidates the relationship between Yin deficiency,damp-heat,and ME,integrating syndrome differentiation with disease diagnosis to discuss Yin deficiency and damp-heat as the core pathogenesis of refractory RVO-ME.Guided by this understanding,a treatment principle of nourishing Yin,clearing heat, and eliminating dampness is proposed, combined with methods to regulate Qi and dispel blood stasis, and tailored herbal formulas based on individual patient conditions. This treatment strategy adheres to the principles of addressing excess and deficiency, nurturing Yin without promoting pathogenic factors, and clearing heat and dampness without damaging Yin.The aim is to explore new theoretical perspectives and clinical approaches for the treatment of refractory RVO-ME.
