Research Progress on the Treatment of Amblyopia with Integrated Traditional Chi-nese Medicine and Western Medicine
Amblyopia is an eye disease related to visual development.Timely intervention during the sensitive period of visual development can achieve better therapeutic effects.However,improper or delayed treatment can severely impact the patient's vision and quality of life.The treatment of amblyopia aims to eliminate the risk factors and promote the use of the amblyopic eye by occluding or suppressing the dominant eye.Both Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)and Western Medicine(WM)have unique methods and theories for treating amblyopia.In recent years,the integration of TCM and WM in the treatment of amblyopia has garnered significant attention.This paper reviews the research progress on the methods and efficacy of amblyopia treatment in both TCM and WM.WM approaches include neural regulation,neuroplasticity,and cognitive training,while TCM approaches include herbal medicine,auricular acupressure,and acupuncture.Combining the strengths of both TCM and WM to develop personalized treatment plans can better promote visual recovery and functional improvement in amblyopia patients.
