80% of the external information perceived by humans comes from vision.Serious visual impairments significantly affect patients'physical health,mental well-being,and social functioning,imposing a heavy economic burden on families and society.Therefore,visual impairments are not only public health issues but also socio-economic issues.Strengthening visual rehabilitation efforts is of great significance for enhancing people's well-being.This article reviews the evolution of the definition of visual impairments and visual rehabilitation.Based on the holistic concept,it emphasizes the discussion of visual rehabilitation strategies,highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration among medicine,engineering,education,and cooperation among multiple sectors such as medical,educational,and social security to achieve comprehensive patient rehabilitation and social reintegration.
