Analysis of the Application of Insect-derived Medicines in Thyroid-associated Oph-thalmopathy Based on the Xuanfu Theory
The pathogenesis of thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy(TAO)is complex, characterized by a long disease course and poor prognosis, thus making it a chronic and refractory condition. In recent years,Xuanfu theory,a fundamental theory in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),has been widely applied in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of TAO.The blockage of Xuanfu is the basic pathogenesis of TAO,initially manifesting as Qi stagnation in Xuanfu and eventually leading to the obstruction of Xuanfu by phlegm, dampness, and blood stasis over time.Medicinal substances derived from insects, known for their"ascending, dispersing, and thorough"properties, are utilized in the treatment of TAO.These treatments involve two main approaches:Clearing liver and purging fire to regulate Qi and open Xuanfu, and resolving stasis and dispersing nodules to dredge and unblock Xuanfu. This provides new insights for the clinical treatment of TAO using TCM.
