Analysis of Medication for Treating High Myopia by Qihuang Scholar KANG Zefeng Based on the TCM Inheritance Assistance Platform
OBJECTIVE To perform data mining and analysis on the medical cases of Qihuang Scholar KANG Zefeng's treatment of high myopia using Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)Inheritance Assistance Platform,summarizing his medication patterns and academic thoughts for treating high myopia.METHODS Prescriptions for high myopia treated by KANG Zefeng at the Eye Hospital,China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences from January 2020 to June 2023 were collected.A medical case database was established through the Clinical Information Collection System of TCM Inheritance Assistance Platform.Standardize the names of all Chinese medicines,and then data mining and statistics,such as frequency statistics,association rule analysis,and cluster analysis,were conducted.RESULTS A total of 52 prescriptions were included,involving 98 types of medications.The properties of the medications were mostly cold and warm;The meridian tropism primarily involved the liver,kidney,and heart meridians;The flavors of the medications were predominantly bitter,pungent,and sweet.The top seven frequently used medications were goji berries,Angelica,Motherwort,Dodder seed,Notoginseng,Acorus,and Polygala,with Goji berries being the core medication,closely associated with Dodder seed,Motherwort,Acorus,and Polygala.CONCLUSIONS KANG Zefeng's treatment of high myopia is based on the theory of"pupil collateral disease",focusing on nourishing liver and kidney,regulating Qi and blood,and emphasizing the importance of unblocking the collaterals in the eyes.The treatment has proven to be highly effective,showcasing the diagnostic and medication characteristics guided by the collateral disease theory in treating high myopia.
