Recent Advances in the Application and Mechanisms of Traditional Chinese Medicine Hot Compress Therapy in the Treatment of Dry Eye
Dry eye is a common chronic ocular surface disease characterized by high inci-dence,prolonged course,difficulty in cure,and a trend toward affecting younger individuals.Tradi-tional Chinese Medicine(TCM)hot compress therapy,which combines the thermal effect and the medicinal properties of TCM,is a frequently used clinical treatment for dry eye.Recent studies have shown that the combination of TCM hot compress therapy with conventional Western Medical treatments,other TCM external therapies,or oral TCM decoctions has significant efficacy in allevi-ating symptoms,stabilizing the tear film,and inhibiting local inflammatory responses.This article reviews the recent research and mechanisms of TCM hot compress therapy in the treatment of dry eye,aiming to provide new insights for future treatments of this condition.
