An Exploration of Aromatic Chinese Medicines in the Treatment of Internal Ocular Diseases
Aromatic Chinese medicines,with their pungent,warm,and fragrant nature,can function to open orifices,guide meridians,soothe liver,regulate Qi,transform dampness,and warm interior,and have pharmacological activities such as antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,anti-apoptotic effects,improvement of microcirculation,and the ability to penetrate the blood-retinal barrier.This article systematically reviews the definition,meridian tropism,and properties of aromatic Chinese medicines.It focuses on the mechanisms of action,indications,clinical applications,and findings from modern pharmacological research.Additionally,the paper summarizes the experiences of ancient and modern practitioners to explain the underlying principles of using aromatic Chinese medicines in the treatment of internal ocular diseases.The aim is to provide useful insights and methods for utilizing aromatic Chinese medicines in the treatment of these conditions.
