Ancient Chinese medical texts are the foundation for the inheritance and innovative development of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).This paper examines TCM literature across various dynasties,identifying and summarizing the academic perspectives and clinical experiences of physicians regarding the disease of phlegm nodule formation,including its nomenclature,clinical features,etiology,pathogenesis,and treatment.The study traces the historical understanding of terms such as Baojian and Tanhe,revealing that discussions on phlegm nodule formation predominantly appear in the Yuan,Ming,and Qing dynasties.The descriptions of clinical characteristics of this condition in ancient texts are notably accurate and comprehensive in their therapeutic methods from the time of its documented existence.This research aims to clarify the practical development of TCM theories concerning phlegm nodule formation,providing a reference for clinical treatment of this condition.
