Comparison of IOLMaster 700,IOLMaster 500 and Pentacam HR in Measuring the Biological Parameters of Myopia
OBJECTIVE To compare the differences, correlations, and consistencies in ocular biometric parameters measured by three different instruments:IOLMaster 700,IOLMaster 500,and Pentacam HR in myopic patients, and to guide preoperative examinations for myopic patients.METHODS A total of 180 patients(180 eyes)with low to moderate myopia who were scheduled for corneal refractive surgery at Wuhan Aier Ophthalmology Hanyang Hospital from June 2022 to October 2022 were enrolled. The same examiner used IOLMaster 700,IOLMaster 500,and Pentacam HR to measure corneal flat curvature(K1),corneal steep curvature(K2),axial length(AL),central anterior chamber depth(ACD),white-to-white corneal diameter(WTW),and central corneal thickness(CCT).RESULTS(1)There were no statistically significant differences in the measurements of K1,K2,and ACD among the three instruments(P>0.05).There was a statistically significant difference in WTW measurements among the three instruments(F=42.341,P=0.000),with the measurements by IOLMaster 700 and IOLMaster 500 being greater than those by Pentacam HR(tIOLMaster 500=8.651,tIOLMaster 700=7.049,both P=0.000).There was a statistically significant difference in CCT measurements between IOLMaster 700 and Pentacam HR(t=2.641,P=0.009).(2)Correlation analysis of ocular biometric parameters:There was a significant positive linear correlation in K1,K2,and ACD values measured by all three devices(all P=0.000).(3)Consistency analysis of ocular biometric parameters:The three devices showed good consistency in measuring K1,K2,and ACD.CONCLUSIONS The three instruments provide convenient measurements of relevant parameters in myopic patients and show good correlation, but there are still differences in some parameters. They cannot be simply interchanged in clinical use and require comprehensive analysis of data for selection.
