OBJECTIVE To observe the clinical efficacy of auricular point pressing with seeds in the prevention and control of myopia in children and adolescents.METHODS A total of 60 cases(120 eyes)of children and adolescents with myopia admitted to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine and its Hanan Branch from September 2023 to February 2024 were included. They were randomly divided into a treatment group(TG)and a control group(CG),with 30 cases(60 eyes)in each group. The control group was treated with dipeptone eye drops, eye exercises, and health education. The treatment group was treated with auricular point pressing with seeds based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were observed for eight weeks.Uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA),spherical equivalent(SE),amplitude of accommodation(AA),and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores were detected before treatment and after treatment.RESULTS(1)UCVA:When compared before and after treatment, the UCVA of both groups improved after treatment compared with those before treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(tTG=4.728,P=0.000;tCG=2.981 P=0.003).There was no statistically significant difference in UCVA between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05).(2)SE:There was no statistically significant difference in SE between the two groups before and after treatment and between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05).(3)AA:When compared before and after treatment, the AA of both groups increased after treatment compared with those before treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(tTG=10.340,tCG=5.667,both P=0.000).After treatment, the AA of the treatment group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(t=2.078,P=0.040).(4)TCM syndrome scores:When compared before and after treatment, the TCM syndrome scores of both groups decreased after treatment compared with those before treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(tTG=15.812,tCG=5.477,both P=0.000).After treatment, the TCM syndrome score of the treatment group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(t=6.249,P=0.000).CONCLUSIONS Auricular point pressing with seeds combined with dipeptone eye drops has a preventive and control effect on myopia in children and adolescents.Compared with the simple use of dipeptone eye drops,it can improve uncorrected visual acuity, increase the amplitude of accommodation, and improve TCM syndromes, but the improvement of spherical equivalent is not obvious.
