Application of LabSOCS in coincidence summing correction by cascade radiation
Objective To explore the application of laboratory sourceless calibration software(LabSOCS)in coincidence summing correction for cascade radiation. Methods LabSOCS was employed to plot the simulated efficiency curves of four standard source samples. The radioactivity of these samples was measured using a high purity germanium(HPGe)gamma ray spectrometer at the laboratory. Then the coincidence summing correction factors were calculated during the analysis of their radioactivity, followed by the coincidence summing correction for the measured radioactivity. The corrected radioactivity was compared with the certificate activity values and was then assessed based on the statistical En scores for proficiency testing stipulated in GB/T 28043-2019/ISO 13528∶2015.Results The comparison between the measured radioactivity and the certificate activity values of the standard source samples revealed that the absolute deviation of the measured radioactivity after coincidence summing correction ranged from 0.14%to 3.87%and the absolute values of the statistical En scores were all<1.Conclusions The application of LabSOCS to the coincidence summing correction caused by cascade radiation can yield ideal result, with the corrected radioactivity exhibiting little deviation from the certificate activity values, indicating qualified proficiency testing result.
