Awakening effect of hyperbaric oxygen combined with audio-visual-electric stimulation on patients with consciousness disorders after traumatic brain injury
Objective To explore the efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen combined with audio-visual-electric stimulation in the treatment of consciousness disorders after traumatic brain injury. Methods From January 2021 to May 2022,a total of 126 patients with consciousness disorders after traumatic brain injury treated in Nanjing Zijin Hospital were selected and randomly divided into a control group of 65 cases and a study group of 65 cases. The control group received 0.2 MPa(2.0 ATA)standard pressurized air therapy. After the daily hyperbaric oxygen therapy, the study group underwent audio-visual-electric multiple sensory stimulation therapy. The results of brain stem auditory evoked potentials(BAEP),somatosensory evoked potentials(SEP)N20,Glasgow coma scale(GCS),and Chinese Nanjing persistent vegetative state scale(CNPVSS)before and after treatment, the clinical efficacy, and the occurrence of complications between the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the latencies of BAEP Ⅰ,Ⅲ,and Ⅴ waves and SEP N20 waves in both groups were shortened compared with those before treatment, with the latencies in the study group shorter than those in the control group during the same period(P<0.05,P<0.01);The GCS and CNPVSS scores in both groups were all higher than those before treatment, and the scores of the study group were higher than those of the control group during the same period, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05,P<0.01);The total effective rate of the study group(88.71%)was higher than that of the control group(73.44%),with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05);The incidence of complications in the study group and control group was 6.45%and 10.94%,respectively,with no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion Hyperbaric oxygen combined with audio-visual-electric stimulation therapy can effectively improve the GCS and CNPVSS scores of the patients with traumatic brain injury, improve their neuroelectrophysiological indicators, facilitate consciousness awakening, and improve clinical efficacy.
