Meta-analysis on clinical efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen-assisted therapy for patients with ulcerative colitis and its effect on inflammatory factors
Objective To evaluate clinical efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen-assisted therapy for patients with ulcerative colitis(UC)and its effect on inflammatory factors by meta-analysis.Methods The literatures of randomized controlled trail on ulcerative colitis were retrieved from Chinese databases namely China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),WANFANG DATA,VIP,and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database(CBM)and English databases namely PubMed,Web of Science, and Cochrane Library from the databases'inceptions to October 13,2021.The obtained data were statistically analyzed with RevMan 5.3 software. Results After screening,a total of 21 articles involving 1 920 cases of ulcerative colitis were included. The results of meta-analysis showed that the clinical effective rate of hyperbaric oxygen-assisted therapy for UC was higher in the treatment group than that in the control group[OR=5.61,95%CI(4.17,7.54),Z=11.41,P<0.01].The scores of Mayo and disease activity index(DAI)in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.01).Besides,serum tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α),interleukin-2(IL-2),and IL-6 in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group, while IL-4 and IL-10 in the treatment group were significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.01).Conclusion Hyperbaric oxygen-assisted therapy for UC is more conducive to improving the clinical efficacy and reducing the level of inflammatory factors, which is worthy of clinical application.
