Survey on the current situation of naval flight personnel's diet and lifestyle
Objective To investigate the dietary intake, nutritional state, and lifestyle of the students in a naval aviation junior school and pilots in a trial base. Methods Dietary intake was evaluated through the food weighing method for three consecutive days, and the lifestyle behavior was assessed through the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile Ⅱ(HPLP-Ⅱ).Results The co-existence of undernutrition and over-nutrition has been observed in both adolescent and adult pilots, which was mainly reflected in low intakes of carbohydrate(<75%)and high intakes of fat(>145%).The improper dietary structure could be the main cause of this situation. In addition,a significant difference was found in terms of health-promoting lifestyle between different age groups,as the assessment result of adolescents(153.52±16.97)were superior to that of adults(141.20±19.19).Besides,adolescent and adult pilots performed poorly in health responsibility and stress-management,respectively.Conclusion Adolescent and adult pilots have undernutrition and some unhealthy lifestyles.
