Analysis of injuries and experience in surgically treating batches of casualties injured in an explosion
Objective As explosion injuries caused by military explosives are rare in peacetime, medical personnel lack practical treatment experience. The analysis of injuries in batches of casualties injured in an explosion and difficulties in treatment can provide reference for the treatment of injuries in real combat. Methods A retrospective analysis was made on the injuries and medical treatment of batches of casualties caused by an anti-personnel bomb explosion. Results Among the casualties,3(15.8%)were severely injured,16(84.2%)were lightly injured, and 13(92.9%)of the medical evacuated casualties suffered from complex injuries.Among the casualties with shrapnel injuries,7(53.8%)had multiple injuries, with the injuries mainly in the chest and back(34.6%)and lower limbs(30.8%).Thirteen of the evacuated wounded received surgical treatment, among them, the treatment of explosion-related craniocerebral injuries and chest injuries was difficult. Conclusion Surgical operation under efficient organization is crucial for the rescue of explosion injury.Military hospitals should be fully prepared in the treatment processes, staffing, and technical key points.
