Rituximab for treatment of refractory minimal change disease: a case report and literature review
The efficacy of rituximab for minimal change disease (MCD) is still controversial. Here we report a case of refractory MCD treated with rituximab. A young man was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome for 3 years, and MCD was confirmed by kidney biopsy. He achieved partial remission after treatment with glucocorticoids and tacrolimus, but the disease relapsed after dosage reduction. Furthermore, the patient was intolerant to glucocorticoids in later stage. Then, he was treated with rituximab but achieved a poor effect. In addition, a review of the relevant literature was performed.
