Discussion on the Influencing Factors of Hospitalization Expenses for Renal Cancer Surgery Patients
Objectives This study aims to analyze the influencing factors of hospitalization expenses for renal cancer surgery patients and provide a theoretical basis for controlling hospitalization expenses. Methods A total of 1,587 discharged cases with main diagnosis code C64 and surgery from a tertiary hospital between January 1,2020 and October 31,2022 were selected.Spss24.0 was used for statistical analysis.Descriptive analysis, single factor analysis, multiple linear regression analysis, and decision tree were used to find out the main influencing factors of hospitalization costs for renal cancer surgery patients. Results The average hospitalization cost for patients undergoing kidney cancer surgery was 58419.18 yuan, and the average length of stay was 10.9 days. The main factors affecting the hospitalization expenses of renal cancer patients undergoing surgery included gender, preoperative hospitalization days, hospitalization days, and surgical methods(F=158.421,P<0.001).The difference in decision tree results between groups was significant(x=1132.344,P=0.000).Renal cancer patients who underwent laparoscopic surgery and were hospitalized for less than 6 days had the lowest average hospitalization cost per group. Conclusions For patients undergoing nephrectomy, controlling preoperative hospitalization days and reducing overall length of stay,as well as selecting appropriate surgical methods based on individual conditions, are key factors in effectively controlling hospitalization costs.
