Influencing Factors of Hospitalization Expenses of Patients with Skin Diseases in a Tertiary Hospital in Changzhi City of Shanxi Province
Objectives This study aims to understand the composition and main influencing factors of the hospitalization expenses of patients with skin diseases,so as to provide a reference for controlling hospitalization costs and reducing patients'financial burden. Methods The basic information and expenses of 11,539 dermatological patients in a tertiary hospital in Changzhi City,Shanxi Province from January 1,2015 to December 31,2021 were collected. The basic information was descriptively analyzed.Multiple regression analysis and quantile regression model were used on the basis of single factor analysis. Results The average hospitalization cost of patients with skin diseases was 6,970.35 yuan. The main components were drug fees and diagnostic fees, and the correlation between drug fees and hospitalization expenses was the strongest(0.896).Multiple regression analysis showed that length of hospital stay was a major factor affecting costs.Quantile regression analysis showed that the length of hospitalization, year of hospitalization, and presence of comorbid diseases had the greatest impact on the middle and high quantile cost groups of hospitalization costs. Conclusions The length of hospital stay and the cost of drugs are important influences and components of hospitalization costs. Therefore, hospitals should optimize the hospitalization fee structure for dermatological patients, reduce the number of ineffective hospitalization days, and reduce the disease burden on patients.
