Comparative Study of ICD-11 and ICD-10 in Circulatory System Diseases
This study comparatively analyzed the similarities and differences between Chapter 11 Circulatory System Diseases of ICD-11(202301 Edition)and Chapter 9 Circulatory System Diseases of ICD-10(2008 Edition)currently used in China. In terms of disease coverage,ICD-11 has transferred diseases such as acute rheumatic fever, some cerebrovascular diseases, and esophageal varices that are not diagnosed and treated by cardiologists to other chapters. In terms of coding capacity, the number of categories, subcategories, and valid codes of ICD-11 has increased significantly.Moreover,ICD-11 has updated the classification of diseases such as hypertension, coronary atherosclerosis, and pulmonary hypertension. And according to the development of medicine,ICD-11 has changed the classification axis of many diseases. Some diseases have been combined to reflect their original classification axis in ICD-10.In addition,Chapter 11 of ICD-11 involves multiple dimensions of post-coordination,such as cause, laterality, severity, etc.Among them, the causing condition is mandatory post-coordination,and some diseases may involve post-coordination in multiple dimensions. The expression of diseases in this chapter of ICD-11 in the circulatory system is more detailed and more in line with clinical needs.Compared with ICD-10,ICD-11 has made major adjustments to circulatory system diseases.Relevant workers should pay attention to its changes promptly to lay the foundation for the smooth transition from ICD-10 to ICD-11 in China.
