Analysis of 2337 discharged patients with spleen and stomach diseases from a tertiary traditional Chinese medicine hospital in Anhui Province
Objectives This study aims to statistically analyze hospitalized patients with spleen and stomach diseases in a tertiary traditional Chinese medicine hospital over the past two years and propose relevant clinical recommendations.Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of hospitalized patients with spleen and stomach disease between January 1,2021 and December 31,2022.The average length of stay,costs,and disease composition among different gender and age groups were compared using SPSS 26.0 software.Results A total of 2337 hospitalized patients with spleen and stomach diseases were included in the study.Among them,there were 1229 male patients(52.6%),1108 female patients(47.4%),and 1019 patients(43.6%)aged 45 to 59 years old(middle-aged group).The highest average hospitalization days and costs for male and female patients were concentrated in those aged ≥ 60 years(elderly group).The top three diseases included erosive gastritis and atrophic gastritis in 771 cases(33.0%),colon polyps in 437 cases(18.7%),and gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer cases in 294 cases(12.6%).Conclusions From 2021 to 2022,the most common diseases among inpatients with spleen and stomach diseases in a tertiary traditional Chinese medicine hospital are mainly erosive gastritis and atrophic gastritis,colon polyps,gastric ulcers,etc.It mainly threatens patients aged 45 to 59(middle-aged group).It is recommended to undergo regular gastrointestinal endoscopy to be alert and prevent precancerous lesions while improving the prevention and treatment of spleen and stomach diseases.
