Analysis of Inpatient Costs and Influencing Factors for Cerebral Hemorrhage in a Tertiary Hospital in Beijing
Objectives This study aims to explore the cost composition and influencing factors of inpatients with cerebral hemorrhage in a tertiary hospital in Beijing and to provide a reference for effective control of discharge costs for cerebral hemorrhage patients. Methods The total cost and composition of 4280 hospitalized patients with cerebral hemorrhage who were discharged from the medical record system of a tertiary hospital in Beijing from January 1 to December 31,2022 were selected.Single-factor analysis of variance and multiple stepwise regression analysis were used to statistically analyze the influencing factors of hospitalization costs. Results The average hospitalization cost per person for 4280 discharged patients with cerebral hemorrhage was 23334.37 yuan, with Western medicine accounting for the highest proportion, reaching 38.25%.Surgical expenses and treatment expenses took second place, accounting for 36.41%and 25.34%respectively.Compared with critically ill and non-critically ill discharged patients, the average hospitalization expenses for critically ill patients increased by 8322.23 yuan, and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusions The results of multivariate analysis showed that the main influencing factors on hospitalization expenses for patients with cerebral hemorrhage were severity, age, gender, and length of stay.Among them, severity had the greatest impact on discharge expenses. The hospitalization cost of discharged patients with cerebral hemorrhage is relatively high, and its economic burden is heavy.Hospitals should actively formulate policies, reasonably and scientifically control medical expenses, and improve hospital management level and work efficiency.
