Application of PDCA Cycle Method in Principal Diagnosis Selection Training
Objectives This study aims to explore the effect of applying the PDCA cycle method to the main diagnosis selection training for clinicians and to provide a reference for improving the quality of training. Methods Clinicians from some departments of a certain hospital from June 1,2022 to August 31,2022 were randomly divided into a research group and a control group, with 32 people in the research group and 33 people in the control group. The research team conducted training on major diagnosis selection based on PDCA sub-departments.The control group was centralized trained once according to the traditional method. The two groups were given simultaneous assessments every month, and the assessment results, main diagnosis accuracy rate, proportion of each main error type, and training satisfaction rate were collected. Results The results of the three rounds of assessments of the students in the research group showed an increasing trend, while there was no significant change in the control group. The results of the third round of training assessment in the study group were higher than those in the control group(93.4 vs 78.8,P<0.001).The accuracy of main diagnoses in discharge medical records of the study group after training was better than before training(91.2%vs 77.0%,P<0.05),and was better than that of the control group after training(91.2%vs 84.5%,P<0.05).The overall training satisfaction rate of trainees in the study group was significantly better than that in the control group(90.6%vs 75.8%,P<0.05).Conclusions Compared with traditional training methods, the PDCA cycle method can improve the effectiveness of clinicians'main diagnosis selection training and improve the accuracy of main diagnoses on the front page of inpatient medical records, which is worthy of further promotion and use.
