Improvement Effect of PDCA Method on DRG Enrollment Rate
Objectives This study aims to analyze the effect of the PDCA cycle method on improving the management of inpatient medical records and improving the DRG enrollment rate,so as to improve the quality of inpatient medical record management. Methods The front pages of 33,000 inpatient medical records discharged from May 1,2021 to April 30,2022 were randomly selected as the control group, and the front pages of another 33,000 inpatient medical records discharged from May 1,2022 to April 30,2023 were selected as the study group. The control group implemented routine management, while the research group implemented PDCA cycle management. The DRG enrollment rate, the quality of the front page of inpatient medical records and filling defects, medical record management error events, and patient satisfaction between the two groups were compared. Results The DRG enrollment rate, the front page A and B rates of inpatient medical records, and the patient satisfaction rate of the study group were 99.39%,99.73%,and 99.52%respectively,which were all higher than those of the control group(91.05%,95.45%,and 92.32%),and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total incidence of defects in filling in the front page of inpatient medical records and the total incidence of medical record management errors in the study group were 0.21%and 0.08%respectively,which were both lower than the 5.68%and 4.42%in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions The PDCA cycle method is effective in managing the front page of inpatient medical records, which is conducive to improving the admission rate of DRG management and enhancing the total effective rate of inpatient case home management. This method can be further promoted and applied in clinical practice.
