Burns are one of the leading causes of accidental injury death. When coding burn diseases,a clear coding idea should be established, the disease characteristics of burns should be clarified, and the coding rules of burns and the main coding selection principles should be mastered. The clinical diagnosis of burn diseases should fully describe the type and cause of the burn, the location and depth of the burn, the area of the burn and other characteristics. The ICD-10 code for surface burns should include T20-T28 burn location and depth,T31-T32 burn area,V01-Y98 external cause of burn, and the burn code for eyes and internal organs omits burn area. The burn location and depth are the main codes, and the burn area and external cause are additional codes. The size of the burn can be used as the primary code only if the location of the burn is not specified. When there are multiple burns, the area with the deepest burn will be the main code; When the burn depths are the same, the area with the largest burn area will be used as the main code; When it is impossible to distinguish which part of multiple burns is more severe or has a larger area,T29 is used as the main code.
