Disease Composition of Elderly Inpatients Aged 60 and Above in a Hospital from 2018 to 2022
Objectives This study aims to understand the distribution characteristics and disease composition of elderly inpatients aged ≥ 60 in a hospital in the last five years and to provide a reference for the prevention and treatment of senile diseases.Methods The hospitalization information of elderly patients aged 60 and above from January 1,2018 to December 31,2022 was extracted from the electronic medical record system of a certain hospital.Statistical description and analysis of relevant indicators were performed using EXCEL2016 and SPSS26.0.Results A total of 126,460 subjects were included in the study.50.09%were male,49.91%were female,and the average age was(72.55±7.492)years old.Those aged 60 to 70 account for the highest proportion(43.90%).Circulatory system diseases ranked first in the disease spectrum among people of different genders and ages.The proportion of respiratory diseases and tumors in males was higher than that in females(11.24%vs 6.85%,10.45%vs 8.00%).The proportion of diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue,injuries,poisoning,and certain other consequences of external causes was higher in females than in males(10.85%vs 6.52%,10.27%vs 6.15%).The composition ratios of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue diseases in patients aged 60 to 70 years were 3.21 and 6.48 percentage points higher than those in patients aged 71 to 80 years and ≥81 years old,respectively.The disease composition of injuries,poisoning,and some other consequences of external causes in patients aged ≥81 years was 3.03 and 4.50 percentage points higher than that in patients aged 60 to 70 years and 71 to 80 years old,respectively.Conclusions Circulatory system diseases are the main diseases among elderly hospitalized patients.The composition of hospitalized diseases among elderly patients of different genders and ages is different.Hospitals should strengthen the construction of geriatric disciplines,improve the treatment capabilities of common and frequently occurring diseases among the elderly,and protect the health of the local elderly population.
