Analysis of Inpatient Death Cases in a Three A and Tertiary Hospital in Chongqing from 2018 to 2022
Objective To explore the characteristics of death cases in a Three A and Tertiary Hospital,and provide scientific basis for hospital development and decision-making.Methods Data of all discharged patients from January 1st,2018 to December 31st,2022 were retrieved from the hospital medical record system to analyze the case fatality rate of different years,age and sex,as well as the main composition of causes of death.Statistical analysis was performed by counting,proportion and x2 test.Results The hospital discharged 610 672 people,resulting in a total of 3691 deaths and a case fatality rate of 0.60％.The mortality rate decreased from 0.71％in 2018 to 0.45％in 2021.Due to the impact of the epidemic,the mortality rate increased to 0.63％in 2022(x2=77.29,P＜0.001);The male mortality rate was 0.94％,while the female mortality rate was 0.36％.The male mortality rate was higher than the female mortality rate(x2=827.17,P＜0.001);The mortality rate of patients over 70 years old was 1.81％,with the highest mortality rate(x2=3366.77,P＜0.001).The top three causes of death were circulatory system diseases(31.16％),tumors(22.76％),and respiratory system diseases(19.59％),accounting for 73.50％of all deaths.Conclusions The mortality rate was higher in males and patients over 70 years old,hospitals should strengthen health promotion work,and reduce mortality rates.In addition,we should actively promote the development of related disciplines such as circulatory system diseases,tumors,and respiratory system diseases,and improve the level of diagnosis and treatment,decrease the mortality.
