Analysis on the Epidemiological Characteristics of Pediatric Fracture in Children Aged from 0 to 14 years in a Three A and Tertiary Hospital in Beijing
Objectives To explore the epidemiological characteristics of pediatric fracture in Children, thus to provide evidence for relevant prevention and treatment Methods We selected the information on fracture patient aged≤ 14 years admitted in a Three A and Tertiary Hospital in Beijing from January 1st,2013 to December 31st,2022.The composition of gender and age groups, the distributions of admission year and month, types and causes of fracture, and admission and discharge information were described and analyzed. Results A total of 5085 patients were included and 70.71%of children were men.Junior group was the most in men and school age group was the most in women, with statistical differences observed(x2=238.589,P<0.001).The number of cases showed a bimodal trend with month in both men and women;the highest peak was May and the second peak were October and September for men and women, respectively.Fracture mainly occurred at shoulders and upper arms in both men and women, with the proportion of 34.71%and 44.35%;falls was the leading cause for fracture and the proportions were 64.95%and 70.59%for men and women, respectively.Statistical differences were found in the types(x2=93.616,P<0.001)and causes(x2=53.506,P<0.001).f fracture between men and women.57.66%and 39.67%of patients were admitted through outpatient and emergency departments, and 99.88%of patients were discharge by medical order, with the mean hospitalization days of 6.40 days. Conclusions Pediatric fractures had obvious epidemiological characteristics in gender, age, month, fracture type and cause, and we should adopt targeted preventive measures for different individuals to reduce the incidence of pediatric fractures in children.
