Analysis of Hospitalization Cost Structure and Influencing Factors of Patients with Spinal Deformity in a Certain Hospital
Objectives This study aims to explore the change of hospital expenses for patients with spinal malformations in a hospital and analyze the influencing factors of the change of expenses,in order to control the hospital expenses for patients with spinal malformations and improve the level of medical service. Methods A total of 577 inpatients with spinal malformation in the medical record management system of a hospital from January 1,2019 to January 1,2022 were selected as the study objects by retrospective analysis. The structural proportions and changes of various costs were analyzed. The factors affecting hospitalization expenses were analyzed by single factor and multiple logistic regression. Results The total hospitalization cost of spinal deformity patients in the Department of orthopedics in a hospital increased year by year.Among them, consumables accounted for the highest proportion, amounting to 41.26%,43.86%,and 39.17%,respectively,over the three years. The items with negative VSV included drug costs and other costs, which showed a downward trend in 3 years. The expenses of comprehensive medical service, diagnosis and consumables were positive, and the proportion showed an upward trend. The top three items contributing to the change of hospitalization cost structure were other expenses, consumables expenses and comprehensive medical service expenses, with contribution rates of 21.25%,18.59%and 17.61%,respectively.Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that age 45~59,self-payment method, admission as emergency, hospitalization days>7 days, discharge without recovery and surgery were the factors of increased hospitalization cost. Conclusions The hospitalization costs of patients undergoing orthopedic surgery for spinal malformations are increasing annually.Factors influencing these costs include age, payment method, admission condition, length of hospital stay, and treatment regimen. This suggests a need for enhanced communication between medical staff and insurance providers, improvements in medical technology, and efforts to reduce hospitalization expenses. These measures aim to enhance national well-being.
