The application of Sandwich teaching combined with mind mapping in clinical internship of Anesthesiology Department
Objectives This study aims to investigate the effect of combining Sandwich teaching method with mind mapping method on non-medical students. Methods 50 nursing undergraduate students of 2021 who undertook clinical anesthesia internship in a hospital from March 14 to April 5,2023 were selected and randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group using the number table method, with 25 in each group. The control group was taught using the conventional Sandwich teaching method, while the experimental group used a combination of the Sandwich teaching method and mind mapping. After the internship, the two groups were compared in terms of their comprehension of theoretical knowledge and overall satisfaction with their instructors and the teaching provided. Results The theoretical exam score of the experimental group(55.75±16.42)was significantly higher than that of the control group(46.39±15.16),and the difference was statistically significant.Through questionnaire survey,it was found that there was no significant difference between interns in terms of teaching content, teaching methods and teaching attitude. However,in the comparison of teaching novelty, the score of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant. In terms of overall teaching satisfaction, there was a significant difference in the number of people who chose to be very satisfied between the experimental group and the control group. The number of people who chose to be very satisfied in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant. However, the number of people who chose to be satisfied in the experimental group was significantly less than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusions The application of the Sandwich teaching method, combined with mind mapping techniques,in clinical internships for non-medical major students not only aids these students in understanding relevant medical theories but also boosts the overall satisfaction of the interns.
