Disease Structure Analysis of 33960 Hospitalized Patients with Malignant Tumors of the Digestive System
Objectives To analyze the disease structure of malignant tumors of the digestive system in hospitalized cases,in order to provide a reference basis for health departments to formulate targeted preventive measures and allocate health resources rationally. Methods To collect the inpatient case records of 33,960 patients with digestive system malignant tumors from a Three A and Tertiary Hospital in Ningbo from January 1st,2004 to December 31st,2023,and classified them according to the International Classification of Diseases(ICD10).The cases were divided into two groups according to the discharge time:2004-2013 and 2014-2023.The comparative analysis was conducted to compare the disease structure of digestive system malignant tumors. Results The number of patients with malignant tumors of the digestive system had been increasing overall, with the greatest increase in colorectal malignant tumors,up 114.36%from 2014-2023 compared to 2004-2013,with the top three diseases in order being colorectal malignant tumors, gastric malignant tumors, and liver and intrahepatic bile duct malignant tumors.People aged 45 and older were the high-risk population for digestive system malignant tumors, accounting for 93.78%,with the most common types being gastric malignant tumors and colorectal malignant tumors.Men were more likely to be affected than women, with a male-to-female ratio of 2.28:1.The incidence rate of gastric malignant tumors in men ranked first, accounting for 30.12%,while the incidence rate of colorectal malignant tumors in women ranked first, accounting for 37.95%.The average cost of digestive system malignant tumors had been increasing. Conclusions It was imperative to increase the attention given to malignant tumors of the digestive system.Tailored early screening and health education initiatives should be carried out based on the gender, age, and other structural characteristics of malignant tumors of the digestive system in the region,in order to further reduce the incidence rate of malignant tumors of the digestive system.
