Objectives This study aims to analyze the characteristics of hospitalized patients'deaths and provide a reference for disease prevention and control and hospital management decisions.Methods 2644 cases of medical record front pages of hospitalized patients who died from January 1,2019 to December 31,2023 were extracted through the hospital medical record front page information system.The main causes of death were classified according to ICD-10,and their gender,age and cause of death characteristics were analyzed.Results Among the 210,081 hospitalized patients,2,644 died,with a mortality rate of 1.26%.The case fatality rate showed a downward trend,with an average annual percentage change of-14.677%(P<0.05).The case fatality rate in males(1.55%)was significantly higher than that in females(0.96%,x2=147.621,P<0.001).The mortality rate of hospitalized patients gradually increased with age.It was at a lower level between 0 and 39 years old and increased rapidly after 40 years old.The age group with the highest mortality rate was 90 years old and above(7.38%).The mortality rates of different age groups were different(c2=8896.368,P<0.001).The top three causes of death among hospitalized patients were malignant tumors,respiratory diseases,and circulatory system diseases.Conclusions Malignant tumors,respiratory and circulatory system diseases are the main causes of death in hospitalized patients.Hospitals should strengthen the construction of specialty departments and subject research in related departments,continuously improve the level of diagnosis and treatment and the quality of medical services and reduce the mortality rate of hospitalized patients.
