Analysis of the Spectrum of Skin Diseases in a Tertiary Pediatric Hospital in Beijing
Objectives This study aims to analyze the changing trend of skin disease spectrum and provide scientific basis for the prevention of children's skin diseases.Methods A retrospective study was conducted on the data of 323,142 patients who first visited the dermatology outpatient department of a tertiary children's specialty hospital in Beijing from January 1,2019 to December 31,2021.JMP 17 pro software was used for two-sided test,and P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results There were more male than female patients who were first-visited in the outpatient clinic,with a male-to-female ratio of 1.15∶1.The majority of the patients suffered from a single skin disease,totaling 295,082 cases(91.3%).The patients were mainly school-age children,and their sources were mainly concentrated in Beijing and surrounding areas,with a statistically significant difference(P<0.0).Atopic dermatitis and other types of dermatitis constituted the main diseases,followed by infectious skin diseases,urticaria,erythema and drug responsive skin diseases.The order of disease spectra varied among age groups,and the proportion of infectious skin diseases transmitted by the respiratory tract had decreased significantly.Conclusions Atopic dermatitis is the most common skin disease,and the proportion of infectious skin diseases has decreased significantly.Pediatric dermatologists and specialists in pediatrics,maternal and child health care should actively respond to various changes in the spectrum of pediatric skin diseases and promote the sustainable development of children's skin health.
