Exploration of Coding for Common Lower Extremity Arterial Ischemic Diseases
The disease names and clinical manifestations of lower extremity arterial ischemic diseases are similar, but the disease coding categories are different, and the lack of clinical knowledge of coders is easy to cause the wrong coding of diseases. The clinical knowledge and accurate coding of several common ischemic diseases of lower extremity arteries, such as lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans, thromboangiitis obliterans, lower extremity arterial embolism and lower extremity arterial thrombosis, were summarized and coded using WHO ICD-10 2nd Edition 2019 and National Clinical Edition 2.0 respectively and analyzed with examples. The code of lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans was I70.2,which was subdivided according to different clinical stages.Thromboangiitis obliterans was coded I73.1;Both lower extremity artery embolism and lower extremity artery thrombosis are encoded in I74.3 and coded according to different sites and types.Coders should understand the connotation of diseases, distinguish the nature of diseases and clinical manifestations, read the medical records carefully, and code correctly to ensure the quality of data upload.
