Analysis on the Surgical Spectrum of Discharged Neurosurgical Patients in a Certain Hospital in 2023
Objectives To analyze the neurosurgery surgical spectrum of a certain hospital's neurosurgery department, thus to provide data support for the development of the neurosurgery discipline. Methods The front page of 14 422 inpatients discharged from the neurosurgery department of a hospital from January 1st,2023 to December 31st,2023 was retrieved. The surgical operation status of discharged patients in neurosurgery department was analyzed retrospectively. The number of cases and component ratio were used to describe and analyze neurosurgical surgical spectrum. Results In 2023,a certain hospital's neurosurgery department discharged 14422 patients, with 10431 surgical cases(72.33%),7535 cases(72.24%)of fourth level surgery, and 431 cases(4.13%)of minimally invasive surgery. The top 10 surgical names were 1276 cases(12.23%)of head and neck intravascular embolization,1049 cases(10.06%)of intracranial lesion resection,1004 cases(9.63%)of spinal fusion,759 cases(7.28%)of transcatheter intracranial aneurysm embolization with bare coil,536 cases(5.14%)of percutaneous vertebrobasilar artery stenting,516 cases(4.95%)of meningeal lesion resection,494 cases(4.74%)of carotid endarterectomy,493 cases(4.73%)of percutaneous carotid artery stenting,290 cases(2.78%)of cranial nerve decompression, and 278 cases(2.67%)of pituitary lesion resection. In the age stratification, the proportion of surgeries in the younger than 10 year old group was the highest at 76.16%,the 51-60 year old group had the highest number of fourth level surgeries at 1930,the 31-40 year old group had the highest proportion of fourth level surgeries among discharged patients at 82.93%,the 51-60 year old group had the highest number of minimally invasive surgeries at 100,and the younger than 10 year old group had the highest proportion of minimally invasive surgeries among discharged patients at 7.59%.In gender stratification, the number of surgeries performed by males was 5646,which was higher than that performed by females at 4785.Conclusions In 2023,endovascular embolization of head and neck vessels ranked first in the neurosurgery surgical spectrum in a certain hospital.Patients aged 51-60 years had the largest number of grade 4 surgery tables, and more men than women, which provided data support for rational allocation of neurosurgery resources.
